Charlie Rose had Joe Stiglitz on the other night, who
very neatly maneuvered around Charlie's habit of
overtalking and changing the subject whenever an
interviewee seems likely to say something that Charlie
disagrees with. It was beautiful. Stiglitz advocated
and explained Keynesianism without using any of the
usual trigger terms, and Charlie was simply befuddled.
He kept coming back with Myth #n+1 which was then
also quietly knocked down; then on to Myth #n+2.
Then, the last 15 minutes, he talked with Chelsea
Clinton, who, quintessentially diplomatic, talked freely
and told him absolutely nothing!
