A lady from NREL gave a talk at the ASES conference, the gist of which, stripped
of minor influences, was that what makes a state become "renewable-friendly"
is high priced commercial power, and the enactment of a renewable energy
portfolio.
there are modifying side issues, but those two drive the conversion.

Well, the answer isn't the Koch brothers buying up ten major newspapers. We
can be certain of that, at least. I prescribe a large dose of skepticism
for everyone interested in the motives of the carbon energy industrial
barons. I really don't think they are working for OUR benefit. Cynic that
I am.

Today, on FB, I raise the question: "Why isn't Canada building a refinery for
their
asphalt mines?"

From what little we know, all of the product will be shipped to China
immediately after refining. What is in it for us? Nothing but danger?
Huh?

Its worth an extra $30 a barrel if they can get it to a refinery in the TX
free trade zone.

Certainly the Canadians could built themselves a refinery cheaper than
building thousands of miles of new pipeline, and certainly the Canadians
could chop off $30/barrel in their own taxes on their own refined products.
If they wanted to, or better yet, if we forced them to. We are being taken
for suckers.

Texas. A national joke. Perry touts no regulation while one of their
cities is blown off the map. The Feds didn't even know that fertilizer
plant was there until it exploded and killed a whole bunch of folks. A joke.

Not to change the subject, but did you know the NFL is tax-exempt? Is
NASCAR? How about tennis? Polo?
