I'm re-reading an Anderson book now that uses vacuum energy to power ships
for interstellar exploration. So, we know it works. :-)

The other night I was trying to explain to her all about vacuum energy and
she fell asleep. Stupefying.

I like that he doesn't accelerate the ball until after it leaves the pitcher's
hand, thereby saving his arm for a while.
