Steve builds high powered gaming machines for folks who "need" them, and
likewise tells them to stick with 7.
I'm beginning to think about a new machine. Firefox crashes at
least 6 times a day. I need more tabs.
I'm having serious problems with Firefox, too, version 17.01. It boots up
VERY slowly. Earlier versions used to launch immediately, and now at times
it takes a couple of minutes to start. My computer is maxed out in RAM and
is very fast, fully up to date in all applications and engines and drivers,
and scans clean as a whistle in disk and OS, yet both Live Mail and Firefox
take forever to launch. I hate to abandon Firefox, as it's been perfect for
me for years now. Friends are using Chrome and like it. My drives are
defragmented and when thoroughly scanned are declared healthy and fit. I
don't know what's going on. My hunch is the Mozilla community is very
quietly working on a different engine, as this one now is proving too
cluttered up to actually work smoothly. I read rumors that they are unhappy
with the performance of Firefox lately.
