This lists Leelanau County as major impact, and that is clearly visible
to anyone with the wits to look about them. The Lake Michigan water
level is so low the harbors are almost worthless and inaccessible,
dredging is the word of the day, water temperatures are very high in the
big and small lakes and life in the lakes is being affected, fish are
having problems reproducing, and invasive species are thriving. In
agriculture, cherry orchards are being abandoned quickly being taken over
by vineyards, which themselves will soon fail, from what I read.
Woodlands are obviously struggling, with fungus infections, beetle
attacks, and simple lack of rain. I see signs of wildlife struggling,
too. Deer seem small and undernourished, as do raccoons and even
chipmunks. The chipmunks I have here around the house are tiny compared
to what we have seen the last three decades. This summer has seemed full
of bird activity, but than is an outlier, I believe, as I've witnessed a
sure decline in the numbers of birds nesting in summer the last 20 years.
Dry, cool, non-conducive to agriculture and wildlife. The wildflowers
have also begun flowering earlier and earlier each year. What used to be
August blooming is now in early July.
My congressgoon, a loon, believes the whole idea of climate change is a
"lie". He's an MD from the vast wasteland of the Upper Peninsula. He's
pro-coal.
Hopeless here in Michigan. The Crazy reigns.
And I was thinking MI, if anywhere, would be improving.
